Hashim Tarmahomed (b.1996, Johannesburg) is an architect, researcher and artist based in Johannesburg, South Africa.
His work is concerned with landscapes of the othered, and considers the margin as a space of collective agency and generation. His creative process often involves mapping these histories and geographies, and translating moments of intersection into meaningful spatial responses, using a layered methodology including drawing, writing, photographing, building, and collaging.
Hashim holds a Master of Architecture (Professional) from the University of the Witwatersrand and has practised at a number of architectural studios, including Wolff Architects, Craig McClenaghan Architecture, and Muhammed Mayet Architects + Urban Designers. He has also contributed to the academy, lecturing periodically in the architecture schools at the University of the Witwatersrand and the University of Cape Town.
